Happy Halloween

...or is it scary halloween. Either way, have fun!

We had a lot of fun carving these pumpkins. Not so sure they look that scary, though!

We bought them at Jucker Farmart. We love this farm and they have been having a huge Pumpkin's market and Kürbisausstellung (Pumpkin exhibition) for the past weeks.

They also had a pumpkin contest and the winning one was just over 700 Kg! Apparently a Swiss record this year.

The number 2 pumpkin was being carved that day. Pretty good.

For the market they had more food (and visitors) than usual. We were eating like Swiss do: Raclette, Cervelat (a kind of sausage) and Vermicelli (a very yummy chestnut puree with cream and meringues), and Glühwein (warm and spiced red wine) and Glühmost (warm Apple Juice). All delicious!

It's been so long

It almost looks like I have been a bit lazy lately, but I can assure you that is not the case. I just have so many projects and ideas... and the German. Sometimes by the end of the day the brain complains: Das ist genug für heute!!
In all this time, I've done a tunic (that was a first... sewing for myself), some shorts for the little one, messenger bags, a mobile, a birthday party... oh dear. I think I've even lost count. Enjoy the photos that don't even document half of it. We've also been visiting some great cities around here and we even got to see the castle that inspired Disney. I'll post some photos of that later on.

The birthday party cake.

A colourful paper plane.

A rainbow garland.

Teacher's gifts

Although a bit late to post about Teacher's gifts they were actually made before the school year finished. And the photos have been sitting around in the computer waiting to be posted.
We packed those with my son's drawings on some cards and they were handed by a very proud boy.

T-shirt printing

A month ago I printed some more t-shirts. An adult one and 3 for little people. This time I used the silhouette to help me out cutting all the stencils of freezer paper. It's way quicker and it does spare my hands from all the very detailed cutting.
Here are some photos of the process and the results, hope you like it.

Oh So Busy! and Our Silhouettes on the Wall

I've been so busy lately crafting away I didn't even realise that a month has gone since the last time I posted something.
With the holidays at the door and some teacher gifts and "regular" gifts plus crafting for the people around me, I completely lost track of time.

I have so much to show I hope I have time. Here it goes.

I was so inspired by all the silhouettes around the net, that I decided to do some myself. And I think the result was pretty nice! Besides, the paper was gorgeous, so half the work was already done. After some profile photos, some photoshop to extract the silhouettes and my faithful Silhouette... here is the result

Bengal Club Music project was launched

A good friend of mine has an amazing skill: she is a musician. She plays the piano and sings very well. I'm no specialist, but I like her voice very much.
Her latest project is Bengal Club Music where she does it all: sings, plays and produces. You can listen to her album in her website.
I was very lucky to be able to give my small contribution to her project along the way. I designed the cover of her album and the logo for the project. It was an amazing project and I really like the result, but more importantly she liked it too. I hope you like it as well and don't forget to visit her website and listen to her music.
Congratulations, Maria for the launch of your project! And lots and lots of gigs!

Dungarees

Another project successfully finished for a special boy! These dungarees are loosely based on a pattern by the magazine Sew!Hip. I added a lot of pockets to all those really special keepsakes collected along the day.

Yummy scrumptiously delicious Tomato and Walnut Jam

There's nothing like a good jam as an excuse to bake a good batch of scones. Yum-my!
One of my favourites is fairly common in Portugal: Tomato Jam. However, I decided to add a little twist to it: Walnuts.
The result was better than expected as I had never adventured myself in making jam.
After looking around for a recipe, I slightly adapted from several I found.
Also, to make sure the jam will keep for a year, I boiled the jars with the jam inside to properly seal the jars. Goodie, tomato Jam for a whole year (if we don't eat too much).
Enjoy the photos...

With some inspiration from the internet and in particular this post, I learned how to do origami cubes in tones of blue and yellow to created these warm lights string for our bedroom.

Herbs and flowers

This year I decided to plant some herbs and flowers. My son and I had a really good time planting all the seeds and small plants: getting dirty in the soil was probably the best bit.
After a couple of months, this is how it's all looking like:

Lovely Purple Flowers

We have lovely flowers growing outside our window. And my sweet kid picked this one just for me!

A colourful centrepiece to keep the bunny from running away

For this easter I prepared a quick centrepiece to make sure the bunnies wouldn't hop around and who knows run away.
To start, I lined a big serving plate with crepe paper weaved to make a checkered pattern.

Second, I used my Silhouette to cut a paper fence and used cute brads to keep it in place.

And finally, I let the bunnies loose! Let's see how safe the fence is.
